Spotlight On: Mark Zanides, Attorney at Law

Mark Zanides

Attorney at Law

Attorney Mark Zanides is the managing partner of a firm he started to help other lawyers process and negotiate loan modification agreements with lenders and servicers.  He also takes on some number of clients directly.  But that’s not what makes his firm unique or special.

Mark Zanides isn’t just another lawyer helping homeowners obtain loan modifications.  He spent his legal career as a federal prosecutor.  He was the Assistant United States Attorney, Criminal Division, from 1979 to 2006.  How cool is that?  A U.S. Attorney.  How’s that for credibility?

Mark was the Chief of the Anti-Terrorism Unit, International and National Security Coordinator from 2003 to 2006.  Do you think he has any good stories?  He was also Coordinator for the Securities and Commodities Task Force.  Pretty darn impressive; I think so anyway.

So, now Mark Zanides is the managing partner of a firm that helps people obtain loan modifications from banks and servicers.  You might wonder whether his past experience qualifies him to work in the area of loan modifications… I did at first, but after spending more than a few hours with him, visiting his offices, and talking with his people and seeing his systems… he knows what he’s doing, no question about it.  In fact, I’ve even listened to him on the phone talking with a lender and he sure sounded good to me.

Federal prosecutors are never shy, and they don’t generally back away from a fight.  Don’t get me wrong… the banks are still the banks, and its become obvious that even the President of the United States can’t seem to make the banks do things they don’t want to do, but that’s another story.

I like Mark’s firm a lot, and I certainly would say that he’s as straight an arrow as they come.  Call him… use my name, although I don’t think it’ll matter one way or the other.  Federal prosecutors treat everyone equally… so I’m sure I don’t have any particular pull.  Just kidding… he’s a great guy.
