Penelope P. Bergman

Penelope Park Bergman is a Partner of Bergman & Gutierrez LLP, focusing on business and real estate litigation and transactional matters, including chain of title issues and foreclosure defense.  Penelope has extensive experience in the pre-trial preparation of complex multi-party litigation.

Penelope attended the University of California, at San Diego, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in General Biology.  She received a Juris Doctor degree and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Richmond.  While in law school, she served as an intern for the Office of Richmond’s City Attorney and was a member of the Richmond Journal of Global Law and Business.

Prior to forming Bergman & Gutierrez LLP, her practice focused on insurance coverage litigation and business disputes, including matters involving “bad faith” claims, Bus. & Prof. Code Section 17200 claims, insurance agent and broker errors and omissions, products liability, aviation matters and airport liability, environmental disputes and toxic tort matters.  She is licensed by the State Bars of Minnesota and California.  She is also admitted to practice before the United State District Court, all California Districts.

Deborah P. Gutierrez

I’ve met Deborah Gutierrez at Max Gardner’s highly specialized UCC seminar.  Deborah’s practice today is focused on bankruptcy, foreclosure defense litigation and real estate transactional matters.  She has dedicated her practice to assisting homeowners in the foreclosure crisis, because she believes very strongly that homeowners can and should fight back against unscrupulous business practices.

Deborah is a former class action litigator with extensive experience prosecuting consumer class action lawsuits in federal and state courts. She has obtained million-dollar settlements and prides herself a champion of consumer rights.  She is also a frequent contributor to legal publications and has published such articles as “In Wyeth, Supreme Court Could Define Implied Federal Preemption” in CAALA’s Advocate Magazine. Plus, she is a native Spanish speaker and performs pro bono work for non-profit organizations in her community.

She did her undergrad at UCLA, and earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New England School of Law where she was the Current Developments Editor for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law… and she’s a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, and the Mexican American Bar Association.

And I’ve got to tell you that I liked her a lot from the moment I met her… I don’t think there’s any question that she is very sincere and extremely hard working.
