Gordon F. Dickson, Chairman and Senior Partner
I met Gordon Dickson at a Max Gardner seminar and I’m glad I did. These days, his firm, Prosper Law is very involved in representing homeowners caught up in the foreclosure crisis, and we don’t have nearly enough experienced lawyers in this, often very frustrating, area of the law. Gordon started Prosper Law after working at the firm, Gris Baker & McKenzie and Bingham, McCutcheon, and received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1989, so he’s been around the courtroom long enough to know what’s what, and that comes through right away when you talk to him.
Gordon’s focus is on foreclosure defense, note securitization, debtor / borrower representation, complex business litigation and transactional matters, and he extensive experience representing consumer and corporate borrowers in complex litigation and in negotiating loan workouts. He has litigated and/or negotiated multi-million dollar cases and settlements and has trial and appellate litigation experience in a variety of courts, including the California and US Supreme Court. For example, Grodon tried a case against a major utility company where over $100M was at issue and successfully represented the client through both the appeals court and an appeal to the California Supreme Court.
Deborah P. Gutierrez, Managing Partner
I’ve also met Gordon’s partner, Deborah Gutierrez, at Max Gardner’s highly specialized UCC seminar. Deborah’s practice today is focused on bankruptcy, foreclosure defense litigation and real estate transactional matters. She has dedicated her practice to assisting homeowners in the foreclosure crisis, because she believes very strongly that homeowners can and should fight back against unscrupulous business practices.
Deborah is a former class action litigator with extensive experience prosecuting consumer class action lawsuits in federal and state courts. She has obtained million-dollar settlements and prides herself a champion of consumer rights. She is also a frequent contributor to legal publications and has published such articles as “In Wyeth, Supreme Court Could Define Implied Federal Preemption” in CAALA’s Advocate Magazine. Plus, she is a native Spanish speaker and performs pro bono work for non-profit organizations in her community.
She did her undergrad at UCLA, and earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New England School of Law where she was the Current Developments Editor for the New England Journal of International and Comparative Law… and she’s a member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, Consumer Attorneys of California, the American Association for Justice, and the Mexican American Bar Association.
And I’ve got to tell you that I liked her a lot from the moment I met her… I don’t think there’s any question that she is very sincere and extremely hard working. Gordon made the right call bringing her into his firm as a Managing Partner.
